9 Characteristics of Enthusiastic People

Someone who is earnestly looking for his mission, discovers it and lives it, will organize his entire life around this divine assignment. This person offers his talents to the world, betters his environment, adds his personal value to it, and ends up happy and satisfied.
The characteristics below help you recognize this person (or become one yourself!) :
  1. Enthusiasm is the most obvious feature. This person lives live fully, enjoys every moment, and lives in the present, radiating a lot of self-confidence. He knows he is valid part of the universe and feels appreciated and guided.
  2. This person possesses a special driving force that guides her through the roadblocks. He has access to an endless source of energy that lifts him above the masses. His energy level is much higher than average. People can notice he is being lifted up by a kind of light beam. He is very engaged, travels lightly and makes a delicate impression. He is convinced that any roadblocks can be overcome. Nothing stops him.
  3. This person easily makes choices. There is something guiding the course of his life, namely his mission, which he uses as a road map to find out where to go next and with whom. He can tell good company from bad company, unimportant matters from important matters. He doesn’t lose himself in irrelevant details but remains focused on his mission. He is guided by his inner voice, his intuition.
  4. He dares to take risks. He has the courage to finish the projects he started. He has the energy and wisdom to concretely manifest his ideas.
  5. He possesses an extraordinary creativity, inspiring those people around him. He has the ability to create and produce. He is capable of manifesting his thoughts: what is an idea today will become real within a few months or even earlier. He makes full use of his resources. He fully realizes his psychological and spiritual potential.
  6. This person has a mysterious charisma. People like to be near him, enjoy his high energy level and feel invigorated afterwards. People pick up some wisdom from him and feel better after meeting him.
  7. He has an unwavering faith in the universe and in himself, as he too is part of this universe. He is aware of spiritual law and lives according to them, consciously or unconsciously. He understands how his dreams and passions are the engine of his evolution and he knows the universe is organized such that it meets his needs. First and foremost he listens to his heart and follows its directions with faith and conviction.
  8. This person exhibits a high level of dedication, gets fully engaged, and knows the universe to be his biggest and best partner. He has a clear vision of his goal, does not get distracted, and uses his energy entirely towards the manifestation of his dreams. When he experiences fear, it does not paralyze him, but doubles his devotion. He knows fear is something you have to go through, he focuses on what is more important than his fear, and for this he can count on his inner strength and guidance.
  9. He is original in his approach and experiences total freedom while fulfilling his mission. He is aware of the fact that he is the co-creator of his life. He is not being lived, not warming the bench, not being afraid of what’s going to hit him next. On the contrary, he reflects about his future and takes all necessary action to effectively realize his desired future.
Someone who has found his mission and takes it to heart is someone who has deciphered the secret code of the soul. And he receives the corresponding gifts: a great deal of enthusiasm, an extraordinary creativity and deep satisfaction. He accepts these gifts gracefully and gratefully, and generously offers them to other people who cross his path. He is a shining light in the life of those who are so happy to have met him.

Leadership Characteristics - 5 Benefits of Being an Enthusiastic Leader

Being a leader can be challenging and at the same time hugely rewarding. When you are in a leadership role, people will look to you to provide inspiration, motivation, direction, drive to name just a few.

Those that succeed as leaders are enthusiastic and upbeat. They know that they might not have everyone on board with all of their ideas, that they might not have all of the skills or the knowledge they need. They are however highly positive and know that there is a solution to obstacles that arise. The challenge for the enthusiastic leader is to find the solution to the obstacles that they encounter.

There are a number of real benefits of being an enthusiastic leader. These include:

Benefit 1: Others follow
Imagine that you had two leaders. The first leader is someone who is upbeat, positive and focussed on achieving. The second leader is someone who spends most of their time focussing on the problems and circumstances. Which leader would you want to follow most?

Benefit 2: People deliver more
Think about the people that you have worked with. Chances are there were people that really inspired you. Their desire to deliver great results motivated you to deliver more than you thought was possible. You go that extra step to deliver.

Benefit 3: You become a role model
People are drawn to people who are high performers and authentic. In many ways you become a role model. They are someone who others aspire to be like and achieve results that you achieve. You show them by the way you behave and your attitude how to get results.

Benefit 4: You build a reputation
If you are a leader who is enthusiastic, finds ways of overcoming obstacles and deliver results, you will build a reputation as someone who delivers. When you get a reputation for being someone who delivers, you will get opportunities to take on new challenges and opportunities.

Benefit 5: You achieve personal success
If you are starting to be viewed as someone who is enthusiastic and has a reputation for getting results, personal success and rewards will follow. Each personal success will encourage and motivate you even more and in many ways create a ripple effect.

Bottom Line - Being an enthusiastic leader has many benefits. What benefits are you missing out on?

At least 5 ways to be more enthusiastic

How would you rate your enthusiasm levels at the moment? Could they do with a boost? If you feel like your batteries could use some recharging there are some simple things you can do to be more enthusiastic.

In “The Happiness Handbook: strategies for a happy life”, Dr Timothy Sharp puts forward his philosophy that “happiness is nothing more than a few simple disciplines practised every day . . . while misery is simply a few errors of judgement and bad habits repeated every day”. I definitely agree with him and can see a direct link between happiness and enthusiasm. If you think about it, you can’t have one without the other. So here are my thoughts on at least 5 simple ways to help you be more enthusiastic in your every day life.

1. Things that make you happy list
Take the time to sit down and construct a list of things that make you happy. They don’t have to be expensive, time consuming or difficult to organise. When you start thinking about it, it’s often the simple, little things that make the difference. For example, my list contains things like seeing animals in the wild, walking on the beach and having a good hair day! Put the list where you will see it every day to remind you of what it takes to make you happy and refer to it as you need to! Some people find it helpful to schedule certain events into their dairy (wish I could do that with the good hair days . . .) so they make them happen regularly.

2. Birthday attitude
Have you ever noticed that when it’s your birthday nothing seems to worry or annoy you? You sail through the day in the best mood, regardless of how many candles well meaning friends and family try to put on your cake! So how does this happen? I think it’s because we make an effort to plan the day so it turns out that way. Well, why not plan one day every month with the same enthusiastic attitude in mind. A friend of mine has taken this idea one step further and created a “birthday week”, also known as “the festival of [insert your name here]”. That’s taking the birthday attitude and multiplying it by 7! What I like best about the birthday attitude is that it doesn’t just affect the birthday person. When you are in a good mood it helps others around you too! Imagine how much nicer people would be to each other if we all adopted this attitude.

3. 1 good thing a day
This is an idea I got from Oprah Winfrey, the talk show host. She has a habit of sitting down at the end of each day and making a note of one good thing that happened that day to remind of all the things she can be grateful for. Like all of us, she has days when she struggles to think of something good to right. At those times her note might read “didn’t yell at someone who really deserved it”.  I love this ideas because it makes you focus on what is going right in your life, instead of what is going wrong. I don’t you about you, but when I am feeling positive I am also feeling enthusiastic about life!

4. Find your flow
You know that great feeling you get when you are totally consumed in an activity you enjoy doing . . . time seems to just fly past and any difficulties you encounter are soon forgotten. This is called being in flow. I think the more time you can spend in the flow, the better! So next time you find yourself in that wonderful state of flow, take some time to analyse why it’s happening and how you can repeat that feeling in other parts of your life.

5. Hang out with kids or dogs
Kids and dogs represent two creatures who live in the moment and know how to get the most out of the here and now. They have the ability to show unbridled levels of enthusiasm without worrying about what other people think of them or wondering if they look silly. Instead, they put 110% enthusiasm into whatever they are doing and just enjoy themselves. The idea is that if you hang out with them some of this attitude might rub off on you!

6. Laugh more
Scientists are now telling us that laughter is really good for your health. The act of laughing releases “endorphins” or happy hormones into your system which improve your ability to resist disease. They also help you enjoy life more! Whether it is buying a humorous book (I can recommend “The dags dictionary: a book of words that don’t exist but should”), watching a funny movie or playing a harmless practical joke, find ways to laugh more and you will see your enthusiasm levels rise.

How to Be Enthusiastic

Dale Carnegie, author of the classic book "How to Win Friends and Influence People," once said, "Act enthusiastic and you will be enthusiastic." While gaining a real sense of enthusiasm takes a little more work than that, embracing Carnegie's attitude can get you started.

Instructions:

1. Evaluate your current attitude before you try to be enthusiastic. Take a full inventory, especially focusing on where you're negative or pessimistic. Then study where you already have some enthusiasm.

2. Determine what's behind any negativity and attempt to correct that as you work on increasing your enthusiasm. When you're experiencing challenges and setbacks in life, it's difficult to be enthusiastic. A life coach or a counselor could help you change things.

3. Cultivate a positive, optimistic attitude by examining where you're already enthusiastic. Meditate upon your current enthusiasm and positive spirits a few times a day. Over time, you should find your enthusiasm increasing.

4. Seek out things you're genuinely enthusiastic about. Start with what you're already enthusiastic about, and find similar things to add to the list. Joining groups that share your interests, either online or in person, is one easy way to find what you're enthusiastic about.

5. Spend time with people who are sincerely enthusiastic and have no problem expressing it. Being around this sort of person can make it easier to display your own enthusiasm.

6. Change your behavior to reflect enthusiasm. Instead, if you feel enthusiastic on the inside, let it come to the outside.

7. Widen your circle of enthusiasm. The more things you can find to be enthusiastic about, the more enthusiasm can become your natural trait.

In life, we are faced with many different challenges and obstacles. Most of the time, we face these challenges with a pout on our face, or a frown - probably because we don't like the things that we are doing. Some of the situations in life are usually forced upon us while others are put upon us at an unexpected time. Now how do we deal with all of these? And how do we face up to these problems with a smile on our faces?
These are actually several ways in which we can curb our enthusiasm to have a healthy and free lifestyle, free from the bondage of facing up to the challenge with a bucket of timidity.

If the situation is put upon you unexpectedly, don't treat it as a burden. Treat it as a challenge. If you don't know how to start or where to start, get some help. Always remember that there are people out there who are still willing to help you, and I can assure you that they are more than happy to help you. If an employer wishes you to do something that is not in your job description, ask a co-employee who is familiar with the job to help you with it.

Always remember to relax and to have fun always. Life is full of stressful situations that would require you to do otherwise, but hey, don't give in to the situation. In fact, do something to change the situation. By relaxing, what I mean is to find a hobby that would totally relax you - read a book, watch television, sleep or go out and have fun with friends. That way, when you go back to the challenge awaiting you, you are free to look at it in a different light. Heck, it might even be a lot of fun doing it!

Smile always. There have been reports that say that there are more muscles needed to frown than to smile, and remember the old adage, "laughter is the best medicine"? Give yourself a break once in a while and don't be all too serious. We can't help it if life is too full of challenges, but what we can do is to make life worth living for us: smile and laugh - two of the best remedies in this lifetime. When you are faced with a task so challenging that you feel that everything is drained out of you, remember these simple tips. It might only give you enthusiasm to face the challenging and daunting tasks that you encounter everyday, it can even help you save your life!
